A proposed 262-lot subdivision in Lula was tabled by the Hall County Board of Commissioners at Thursday's meeting.
It’s the same proposal that was tabled at a February 17 planning commission meeting.
“The houses he’s building are unattainable to people that work in Hall County, for 90-percent of us,” District 3 Commissioner Gregg Poole said. “So that means we’re building houses for people that live outside of Hall County that are going to come buy these houses and drive outside of Hall County.”
The proposed development is in Poole’s district off of Ga. 365 and Cagle Road on roughly 102-acres of land.
The planning commission recommended approval with 19 conditions at their March 17 meeting after tabling it.
The Revive Land Group from Atlanta did make revisions to their applications since that planning meeting.
They updated the site plan to include 61 guest parking spaces. The configuration does not comply with development code standards, which prohibits on-street parking in residential developments.
Neville Allison with Revive Land Group made his case to the commissioners, citing Hall County’s population growth creating new housing needs.
“I don’t think we should impose development procedures that increase the housing costs so our young people can’t buy houses,” Poole said. “And I don’t think we’re doing a good job addressing that.”
Poole also cited concerns such as traffic off of Cornelia Highway before quickly moving to table the item.
“We have the final say,” Poole said. “I don’t want east Hall and north Hall to be anything like south Hall. My voters tell me that everywhere I go.”
Now, the proposal has been tabled until the April 22 commission meeting.
