A faulty drop cord has been ruled to be the cause of a Friday house fire in Gainesville.
The Gainesville Fire Department received a call at 5:44 p.m. of a fire at 414 Laura Drive. Units responded and arrived to find the residence nearly 50% engulfed.
Fire crews worked to extinguish the blaze and after about 30 minutes crews were to contain the fire. The home received substantial damage, displacing the occupants.
No injuries were reported.
