Tennis: NHall sweeps Pickens in 6-3A action

The North Hall tennis teams swept Pickens on Tuesday in a pair of Region 6-3A matches.

The girls took a 5-0 victory, dropping just two sets along the way, and just three games in the singles. The boys won 4-1 behind a sweep in singles.

For the girls, at No. 1 singles, Lilly Perry defeated Logan Berryman 6-0, 6-1 while Ella Kate Canaday beat Pearl Fitts 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2. Maggie Perry defeated Brandy Overton 6-1, 6-0.

Both doubles matches went the distance. Ellie Bangs and MaryEloise Tymchuk took a hard-fought 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 victory over Ella Johnson and Jaelyn Cantrell at No. 1. Addie Bangs and Braely Jarrard held off Agatha Tatum and Anslee Cline 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.

The girls improved to 12-3 overall and 5-0 in 6-3A.

For the boys, Jack Maddox defeated Joseph Saltino 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1 singles and Griffin Keener outlasted Hector Tucker 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2. Cole Griffin knocked off Will Leathers 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 to get the singles sweep.

In the doubles, Brooks Dorsey and James Floyd beat Braydon Clemons and Brooks Berryman 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot.

Pickens got its lone win at No. 2 doubles with Jack Tatum and Brady Gaddis holding off Andrew Boyd and Alex Crocker 7-6 (7-5), 6-4.

The North Hall boys improved to 11-4 overall and 4-1 in 6-3A.
