City of Cumming employee killed after being hit by vehicle

A 44-year-old woman is dead after she was struck by a vehicle Monday morning in the parking lot of the City of Cumming Water Facilities.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said the 911 center received a call about the incident at around 7 a.m.

The unidentified woman was an employee of the City of Cumming. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The City of Cumming's Administrator Phil Higgins made this statement on the city's social media page late Monday:

"The City of Cumming is completely devastated following this tragic accident that resulted in the loss of life of a treasured City employee. The City of Cumming is very much a family, and we are all in shock and utterly heartbroken following this morning’s tragedy.
We are currently not releasing the name of the employee pending full notification of the individual's family, and out of respect for the family as they grieve their loved one.
At this time, we ask for the community to join us in prayer for the family and friends of our lost employee, as well as for our entire City of Cumming family."

FCSO Traffic Specialist Unit is investigating the incident.
