By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

A man was arrested Friday after allegedly hitting Union County sheriff's deputies with his vehicle and then leading authorities on a chase.

A social media post Friday evening by the Union County Sheriff's Office said the incident started just before 3:00 p.m. when the man came to the sheriff's office's headquarters in Blairsville and began yelling in the parking lot.

"Deputies approached the male to figure out what was going on. The male then jumped into his vehicle and struck two deputies as he attempted to leave the Sheriff's Office parking lot," the post by the sheriff's office said.

The sheriff's office added that the two deputies who were hit suffered minor injuries. The man also reportedly hit two vehicles while leaving the parking lot.

He then began driving on Ga. 515 Eastbound, with deputies pursuing him. Georgia State Patrol troopers joined the chase, ultimately ending it by performing a PIT maneuver on the suspect on Ga. 515 near Earnest Street in Blairsville.

The suspect suffered minor injuries. His name has not been released as of Saturday morning. The incident remains under investigation.
