Man arrested after shooting in Lumpkin County

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

A man has been arrested after a recent shooting in southern Lumpkin County.

Lumpkin County Sheriff Stacy Jarrard said William "Randall" Crawford, age 44, was arrested by Georgia State Patrol troopers in Pickens County after a brief chase that ended with troopers performing a PIT maneuver on Crawford's vehicle.

The shooting remains under investigation, but Jarrard said the victim, an unidentified male, has survived his injuries after being shot in the neck. He said Crawford and the victim knew each other.

"They were friends, so it was not stranger-on-stranger," Jarrard said. "There was an incident that took place earlier that has not been completely investigated out with that, so I couldn't tell you the exact reason (for the shooting.)"

A social media post by the Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office said the incident happened at a home in the area of Mountain Brook Circle and Mill Cove Drive near Lumpkin County Park.
