Banks County battles brush fire Sunday afternoon

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

Dry weather conditions continue to raise concerns and issues throughout northeast Georgia with fires over the weekend.

Banks County officials say a brush fire from a controlled burn grew out of control during, "Red Flag Day" conditions on Sunday.

Fire Chief Steve Nichols says in a press release that their crews were called to the 300 Block of Pine Lake Drive after 2:15 p.m. Sunday for a brush and woods fire.  The flames would eventually spread to burn over 8 acres of brush.

Crews from Commerce, Bold Springs and Jackson County Fire departments aided in dousing flames over the following three hour period.  No injuries were reported.
