The Newtown Florist Club will be holding an in-person and Facebook Live event on Thursday in its celebration of Black History Month.
Moderated by Andre Cheek-Castleberry, a local panel, including former Gainesville Councilperson Myrtle Figerius, will discuss the early years of school integration.
Titled “Survival Stories: The first year of school integration in Gainesville-Hall County,” the seven-person panel will recount their experiences at the time.
The panel discussion will begin at 6 p.m. at the Northeast Georgia History Center after a meet-and-greet at 5:30 p.m.
