The Towns County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public of an ongoing text scam.
The department said in a Facebook post that some residents have received false FastTrak messages that specifically target drivers using toll roads and bridges.
The messages claim that the driver owes money for using a FastTrak lane and threatens late penalties or license suspension. The scam then has drivers provide banking or credit card information.
The department advised to ignore any FastTrak messages asking for any amount of money, as FastTrak does not send text messages to non-account holders.
