After Week 8 of the high school basketball season, nine area boys and girls programs are ranked in the top 10 of the Georgia High School Association's postseason rankings.
In Class 3A, Region 6-3A has five girls teams in the top 10, with Pickens (15-1) taking the top spot. Jefferson (13-3) follows closely behind the Dragonettes in second. Cherokee Bluff (14-4) is in third, White County (13-4) in fourth, and Chestatee (11-5) in seventh.
In Region 8-3A boys, Cherokee Bluff (17-1) is ranked No. 1, while East Hall (13-3) is third.
In Region 7-2A boys, Union County (13-2) is second.
In Region 8-A Division 2, Towns County (10-8) is in ninth, and in Region 8-A Division 1, Rabun County (15-3) is ranked third.
