Officials in White County say a local home was destroyed by fire early this morning near the Habersham County line.
White County Public Information Officer Bryce Barrett says a passerby noticed the fire Tuesday morning along State Route 254 by the intersection of State Route 115 Eastbound, when they alerted residents of the structure's fire. All occupants reported were able to escape without injury at that time.
Barrett's press release says that the county's Fire Service Department initial reports indicated the fire started in the chimney of the home at around 6:30 a.m.,and quickly spriead to the upper level. Upon arrival, firefighters determined the home to be a total loss as is spread into full involvement, while efforts were immediately concentrated on preserving as much of the property's integrity as possible while containing flames.
Habersham County Fire Services and personnel from Lee Arrendale Correctional Institue (LACI) provided assistance and supplied additional manpower for firefighing operations, according to Barrett.
Firefighters remain on scene to continue dousing hot spots and area infrastructure, while Barrett says officials are crediting the unnamed bystander for potentially saving the lives of the occpuants by their quick actions this morning. No injuries have been reported.

White County's Fire and Emergency Services are currently battling a struture fire near the county line.
Private social media posts from White County reported a structure fire after 6:30 a.m. in the area of the crossings of State Routes 254 and 115. Images indicted a fully involved structure fire was ongoing, with firefighters on scene working to contain damage.
Calls to White County 911 were limited with details, only indicting that their Public Information Officer was on the scene at 8:00 a.m. No word on whether any residents or animals were at the site when the fire occurred.
