LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — The Buford teams went on the road and took a pair of tough wins to sweep Discovery on Monday in Region 8-6A action.
The Lady Wolves opened the afternoon with a 48-41, come-from-behind win. The boys followed with a 65-58 victory in the nightcap.
In the girls game, Discovery (11-6, 2-3 Region 8-6A) led 10-9 behind two 3-pointers from Jade Jones after the opening period. But Buford (11-1, 3-1 Region 8-6A) would take a slim 22-20 halftime lead.
A defensive third quarter was the difference. The Lady Wolves held Discovery to just 7 points in the third to grab a 34-27 lead. They held on in the fourth quarter.
Lydia Ledford led Buford with 17 points, including a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line. E’miah Fields added 14 for the Lady Wolves.
Jones led Discovery with 15 points.
