The Athens Rock Lobsters have announced updated schedule changes.
The originally scheduled Dec. 7 game against the Blue Ridge Bobcats will now be played on Feb. 23. The Jan. 11 game against the Baton Rouge Zydeco was moved up to Jan. 9 and the April 4 match against the Binghampton Black Bears will be April 2.
“We couldn’t have made this happen without the incredible partnership of the league and the Akins Ford Arena team,” Athens Rock Lobsters Executive Vice President Scott Hull said in a press release. “Their dedication allowed us to find dates that work for everyone, and we’re thrilled to keep our fans at the center of everything we do.
Theme nights were also moved around, with “Wizard Night” now on Feb. 28 against the Monroe Moccasins in conjunction with Teacher Appreciation Night and “Golf Night” on April 3 against the Black Bears for the final home game of the regular season.
Fans who had tickets to games with the original dates will have them automatically transferred to the new times, with no action required.

The Rock Lobsters are also working with the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL), the arena, and opposing teams to reschedule games originally set for Dec. 6, Dec. 12, and March 21.
The former two were postponed due to the Classic Center Authority and Athens-Clarke County Unified Government denying the certificate of occupancy for Akins Ford Arena due to it not being ready for use back in December, according to the Athens Banner-Herald.
“Our fans are the heart of this team, and their support means everything,” Hull said. “We can’t wait to see them fill the arena as we aim for a strong finish to the season.”
