MONROE, Ga. — Class 3A No. 2-ranked Cherokee Bluff opened Region 8-3A with a solid 65-53 road win over Monroe Area on Friday night.
Boston Kersh with 16 points and 6 rebounds and Connor Robinson with 15 points and 3 rebounds paced Bluff. Tyler Underwood and Alex Blurton each had 9 points for the Bears. Underwood also dished out 7 assists, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals as well.
Cooper Glover had 7 points and 7 rebounds and Ben Craig 6 points and 7 rebounds for Cherokee Bluff.
It was the ninth straight win for the Bears (15-1, 1-0 Region 8-3A) who will play host to West Hall on Tuesday in another region contest. Monroe Area (4-9, 0-1 Region 8-3A) will play host to East Hall.

The Vikings jumped out to a quick first quarter lead and never looked back to open Region 8-3A with a win in Valhalla on Friday.
East Hall (12-2, 1-0 Region 8-3A) led 19-10 after the opening period and extended its lead to 41-25 by halftime. The Warriors (6-9, 0-1 Region 8-3A) trimmed the lead to 53-42 heading into the fourth quarter.
Next up for East Hall, which has won four straight overall, is a road trip to Monroe Area on Tuesday in Region 8-3A play.
HABERSHAM CENTRAL 69,

The Class 5A fourth-ranked Raiders improved to a perfect 6-0 at home and are the only remaining unbeaten team in Region 8-5A after rolling past the Red Devils Friday night.
Habersham Central (14-2, 4-0 Region 8-5A) have won three straight overall and 10 of its last 11 going back to a road loss to Class 6A No. 7 Lambert in November.
The Raiders will now embark on a three-game road trip against Apalachee, Clarke Central, and then finishing against No. 5 Winder-Barrow on Jan. 17. They will not be back at home until taking on Alcovy on Jan. 21.

The Trojans’ bid to pull into second place in Region 6-3A was dealt a blow Friday night on the road.
Micah Jimerson (31 points) and Cole Hulsey (29 points) had a pair of monster games for the Trojans (8-6, 2-2 Region 6-3A) but North Hall gave up its second-most points on the season.
GAC (10-4, 3-1 Region 6-3A) took over second place behind Pickens with the win.
North Hall next will play host to Dawson County on Tuesday.
