HOSCHTON, Ga. — Jackson County rebounded in a huge way from its disappointing loss to Clarke Central last week.
The Panthers used three interceptions, including one for a pick-6, and got 5 TD passes from RJ Knapp in taking a 48-10 win over Alcoy on Saturday in Region 8-5A action at Panther Stadium.
Almost all of the damage came in the first half as the Panthers (4-2, 1-1 Region 8-5A) led 20-0 at the end of the first quarter and took a 41-0 lead into halftime.
Jacob Vang returned an interception for a TD and Maher Magness and Cooper Galley each snagged an INT as well for the defense.
On offense, Knapp was an efficient 13-of-15 for 169 yards with Caden Daniels leading the receiving corps with 4 catches for 64 yards and 2 TDs. Robert Spry had 4 catches for 42 yards and 1 TD; Daylan Maxwell had 3 receptions for 27 yards and 1 TD; and Jacob Coombs caught 2 passes for 20 yards and a score.
The Tigers (1-5, 0-2 Region 8-5A) never recovered, though they did outscore the Jackson County reserves 10-7 in the second half.
Maxwell also led the ground attack for Jackson County with 10 carries for 78 yards. Knapp rushed 4 times for 47 yards and scored once.
Jackson County will travel to Apalachee next week in another 8-5A showdown.
