Update: Power being restored, still more than 24,000 in Northeast Georgia in the dark

Update on Sept. 27, 2024 @ 8:30 p.m.

That last update tonight sees another steep decline in outage numbers. The total sits at 24,801 in the area now, roughly 9,000 less than the last check at 6 p.m.

Here are the latest numbers, with counties listed in alphabetical order:

As crews continue work, power outages in Northeast Georgia continue to decline.

As of 6 p.m. on Friday, the total number sits at 33,693, roughly 8,000 less than our last check at 2:30 p.m.

  • Forsyth County - 349

As the weather effects of Tropical Storm Helene subside, power crews are working throughout Northeast Georgia to restore power to the tens of thousands of customers across the region who lost power during the storm.

At the peak during the storm Friday morning, more than 75,000 customers in the area lost power. A customer represents a home or structure with a meter.

As of 2:30 p.m. Friday, the total number or customers without power in Northeast Georgia was down to 41,350. The most affected county in the region remains Rabun County, with still more than 10,000 customers without power there.

A full breakdown of customers without power by county is below. Note, the counties are listed alphabetically and the numbers are accurate as of 2:30 p.m. Friday:
