Northeast Georgia schools to close Friday for inclement weather

Most schools across Northeast Georgia have at least partially closed in anticipation of impacts from Hurricane Helene.

You can see the full list of school closures below. Schools will be fully closed both Thursday and Friday unless otherwise noted:

K-12 schools:

  • Banks County Schools
  • Barrow County Schools 
  • Bethlehem Christian Academy 
  • Buford City Schools
  • Commerce City Schools 
  • Dawson County Schools
  • Gainesville City Schools (campuses closed, online assignments)
  • Gwinnett County Public Schools 
  • Habersham County Schools
  • Hall County Schools (school from home Friday)
  • Jackson County Schools 
  • Jefferson City Schools 
  • Lakeview Academy
  • Lumpkin County Schools
  • Rabun County Schools (virtual learning only Friday)
  • Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School
  • Stephens County Schools
  • Tallulah Falls School
  • Towns County Schools (virtual learning only Friday)
  • Union County Schools (at-home learning only Friday)
  • White County Schools

*NOTE: Forsyth County Schools are on fall break Sept. 23-27
