As Apalachee High School and Barrow County officials prepare to reopen the high school's classrooms next week, one Winder nonprofit organization is trying to help students to ease their stress and worries.
Adventure Bags, Inc. is hosting a backpack stuffing event to provide students at Apalachee High School with support items.
Misty Manus is Executive Director of Adventure Bags. Her older kids graduated from Apalachee High School, so she is working to collect comfort items for the students before their first day back on Monday, September 23.
The bags will be filled with items including a stuffed animal, a blanket, a journal, as well stress balls, a card and other items to show the students that they are truly cared for and supported.
Adventure Bags and the volunteers will be packing up 2,000 bags today, Friday, Sept. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
