DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. – Buford scored 17 unanswered points after being tied 14-14 early in the second quarter to take down Douglas County, 31-14, Friday night.
Justin Baker started things for the Wolves, scoring less than a minute into the game after Buford took advantage of a Douglas County turnover. His 33-yard run put the Wolves up, 7-0, before the Tigers answered on their ensuing drive on a 44-yard passing play.
Douglas County then got a turnover of their own on a pick-six that gave them their only lead of the game. Baker tied the game up just two minutes into the second quarter on a 36-yard rushing score before Dayton Raiola had a quarterback sneak with 2:10 to go in the first half to retake the lead.
After the Wolves kicked a field goal going into halftime, Jordan Allen capped off the scoring on a 20-yard pass from Raiola, keeping his feet in bounds in the back of the endzone to get to the final 31-14 score.
Baker finished the game with 112 yards rushing on 11 carries, while Raiola was 11-for-15 for 148 yards through the air.
Buford will open region play next week on the road at Discovery.
