Dekalb County School teacher from Lawrenceville arrested for child sex crimes

By Hamilton Keener Anchor / Reporter

A Dekalb County School teacher was recently arrested after he was caught having sexually explicit conversations with a 14-year-old girl.

The Gwinnett County Police Department said the teen’s mother called 911 on Sept. 3 to report explicit conversations between Marcus Knight, 49, of Lawrenceville and her daughter.

Detectives were able to pose as the victim and plan a meeting with Knight. He arrived at the meeting place and was taken into custody.

Police officials said Knight was found in possession of several ‘high-level’ THC vape cartridges.

Knight was charged with aggravated child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes and obscene contact with a child. More charges may be added pending further investigation.

According to officials, the victim in the case was not a student of Knight.

Knight was taken to the Gwinnett County Jail where he remains without bond.
