By AccessWDUN Staff

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – In a back-and-forth second half, Cal Faulkner ran in from 32 yards out with two minutes to go and the Indian defense held on fourth down as Lumpkin County took down Hart County, 28-25, Friday night from the Burial Grounds.

The Bulldogs never trailed in the first half, scoring on their opening drive before the Indians tied it up on a Nolan Matthews 5-yard run. Hart County found a field goal in the second quarter to take a 10-7 lead into halftime.

The Indians took their first lead of the night as Matthews ran in from five yards out again in the third quarter to take a 14-10 lead, but the Bulldogs scored on the first play of the fourth quarter to retake the lead, 17-14.

It was then time for Faulkner to break out as he found AJ Scott for the lead on the ensuing drive on a 4-yard pass. After the Bulldogs drove and scored on their next drive, Faulkner capped the Indians' next drive with his lone touchdown run of the night.

The Indian defense held on fourth down and then the offense was able to convert thanks to a Hart County personal foul to ice the game away.

Lumpkin County held Hart County to just 3-of-11 on third downs while Matthews had 119 yards on the ground. Faulkner had 86 yards rushing and was 10-of-12 through the air.

The Indians will host Dunwoody next week to continue a three-game homestand.
