Search ends sadly for 71-year-old Oakwood woman

UPDATE- Wednesday, August 28 @ 10:40 a.m.:

A social post from the Oakwood Police Department has updated the search for previously missing 71-year old Betty Marie Ramey of the Oakwood Village subdivision.  Authorities have confirmed that a family member located Betty Ramey deceased at the location of the incident early Wednesday morning, August 28. The investigation is ongoing, and according to Oakwood Police, further information will be released via reports to the media.

The Oakwood Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a 71-year-old woman who went missing at around 11 a.m. Tuesday morning. Officers responded to the Oakwood Village subdivision off McClure Drive in reference to a missing elderly female with a history of dementia and other health issues.

Upon arrival officers contacted the victim's sister who told officers that the victim had stopped taking her medication and may have wandered off.

Georgia State Patrol (GSP) utilized helicopters to try to find Betty Ramey, but with no success.

 Betty Ramey is 4 feet 10 inches tall and weighs approximately 80-pounds with gren eyes and light brown hair in a ponytail, according to Oakwood PD.

Ramey was last seen wearing a short skirt with black pants and has a noticeable shoulder hump. She also is carrying an oxygen tank in her bookbag for her ailments.

Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts should contact Oakwood PD at (770) 534-2364 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. or 9-1-1 after 4 p.m.
