Habersham natives donate K9 to Habersham Co. Sheriff's Office

By Will Daughtry News Reporter

The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office will have a new K9 in training starting this fall.

The dog was donated to Habersham County by United Logistics.

United Logistics consists of three brothers — Tyler, Brett, and Cody Mixon — who all grew up in Habersham County and want to give back.

The K9 donated by the three brothers will be trained by ADZ Kennels in Oakwood.

“Without these donations from ADZ Kennels and United Logistics, we would not have the K9 unit that we have today,” Habersham County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Lieutenant Travis Jarrell said. “Not only have they spent so much time and energy pouring into our program but have offered moral support as well as friendship with our team.”

Personnel from Habersham County Sheriff’s Office traveled to Oakwood on Wednesday to meet the K9 program donors and tour the training facility.

ADZ Kennels owner Doron Zohar and his staff have already trained one K9 and will begin training the newest addition to Habersham County in the fall.

They have already started helping the handler, Deputy Holden Helcher, with techniques and demonstrations to get the K9 where it needs to be.
