COMMERCE, Ga. – With 8:16 left in the game, quarterback Drew Richardson found his second rushing touchdown of the night, and the East Jackson defense held as the Eagles knocked off Commerce Friday night, 14-13.
The Eagles scored on the opening play of the second quarter with Richardson's first touchdown of the night, but the Tigers answered three minutes later as Tysean Wiggins found his first touchdown of the night. He found paydirt again with 1:44 left in the first half, but the PAT was no good, leading to a 13-7 lead at halftime.
Richardson punched it in in the fourth quarter, allowing the Eagle defense to steal the show late in the game to give East Jackson their first ever win over Commerce.
Wiggins finished with 136 yards rushing for the Tigers on 20 carries, while Jacari Huff had 120 yards on the ground.
East Jackson will head to Dawson County next week, while Commerce will look for their first win of the season at Luella next Friday.
