A person on Tow Drive in Cleveland came back to their home filled with smoke Saturday evening.
In response, White County immediately dispatched a crew to the residence and made quick work of the fire.
White County 9-1-1 sent White County Fire, Cleveland Fire, White County EMS, and White County Emergency Management just after 9 p.m.
The home was unoccupied upon arrival, and the first units on scene said there was a single-story home with a basement that had smoke filling the entirety of the house.
Fire crews discovered that a basement fire was a potential source and promptly extinguished it.
The fire was contained, and efforts then turned to ventilating the home and removing smoke.
Officials say that firefighters remained on scene throughout the evening to ensure the structure was secured and fully extinguished.
The majority of the home was saved, and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office.
