High school football is starting up this weekend in Northeast Georgia, but that's not the only thing going on!

Here's this week's list of What's Happening This Weekend:

Weekend Events August 16-18, 2024

CONCERTS: 

Event Name: All My Rowdy Friends, A Hank Williams Jr. Tribute Band
Event Date & Time: Friday, April 16, 7 – 10 p.m.
Event Location: Boot Barn Hall, Gainesville
Event Details: Know any Hank Williams Jr. fans? This will be a fun show singing all your favorite songs! Get tickets to this show (ages 14+) at www.bootbarnhall.com

Event Name: Rumors ATL, A Fleetwood Mac Tribute Band
Event Date & Time: Saturday, August 17, 7:30 – 10 p.m.
Event Location: Boot Barn Hall, Gainesville  
Event Details: Sing and dance to your favorite Fleetwood Mac songs. Doors open at 5 and tickets are for ages 14+ only. Get tickets at www.bootbarnhall.com.   

Event Name: A1A, A Jimmy Buffet Tribute Band
Event Date & Time: Friday, August 16, 8 - 10 p.m. 
Event Location: Lou Sobh Amphitheater, Cumming City Center, Cumming  
Event Details: The show may start at 8, but it’s always “5 o’clock somewhere”! Free admission and parking to this fun show. You’ll want to sing and dance to your favorite music. Close your eyes and you’ll think you’re on an island in the Caribbean! But it’s the original Jimmy Buffett Tribute Show since 1992, A1A. No coolers, outside food. Just bring a lawn chair or blanket and your friendly dogs on a leash.    

Event Name: Radio 80’s Band 
Event Date & Time: Saturday, August 17, 7 p.m.
Event Location: Lou Sobh Amphitheater, Cumming City Center, Cumming  
Event Details: Radio 80’s is a must-see show and performs all your favorite 80’s music. This is a free concert and open to the public. Bring your lawn chair or blanket!

FESTIVALS & SPECIAL EVENTS: 

Event Name: Food Truck Friday
Event Date & Time: Friday, August 16, 5 – 9 p.m.
Event Location: Lake Lanier Olympic Park, Gainesville
Event Details: Food Truck Friday includes live music, food and beverage vendors, as well as retail and activity vendors. The concert is free and open to the public. For details, visit www.exploregainesville.org/food-truck-friday/

Event Name: Fall Market
Event Date & Time: Saturday, August 17, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Event Location: Cumming City Center, Cumming
Event Details: This will be a fun day filled with music, shopping, entertainment, and fun for the whole family. There will be a kids’ zone with inflatables and water slides. Over 100+ vendors will be selling accessories, art, handmade jewelry, gift items, collectibles, pet toys and more! Enjoy browsing unique finds from local artisans. Besides the live entertainment, there will also be delicious food and drinks. 

Event Name: Free Movie
Event Date & Time: Friday, August 16, 6 p.m.
Event Location: Main Street Park (Behind City Hall), Dawsonville
Event Details: This will be a fun event including a free movie and a free popsicle from King of Pops (while supplies last). The movie, Inside Out, will start at dusk. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the fun!

Event Name: Car Show
Event Date & Time: Sunday, August 18, 1 – 5 p.m.
Event Location: Dawsonville Middle School, Dawsonville
Event Details: This car show will benefit the Middle School Robotics Team. There will also be awards for Best Paint, Best Engine, Best in Show, Best in Class, Principal’s Choice and more! Food trucks and a DJ will be there. There will also be raffles and awards! 

Event Name: Northeast Georgia Ag Expo  
Event Date & Time: Saturday, August 17, 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Event Location: Hart County Charter System AgriScience Center, Hartwell 
Event Details: There will be indoor and outdoor ag exhibits, a speaker panel, free activities for kids, food an Antique Tractor Show and more!  

Event Name: Georgia Mountain Fair 
Event Date & Time: Friday, August 16 – Saturday, August 24, Various Times
Event Location: Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds, 1311 Music Hall Rd., Hiawassee 
Event Details: Bring the whole family to the 73rd annual Georgia Mountain Fair! All the rides, concerts, pageants, and food that you love about this fair, held at the historic Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds! Go to www.georgiamountainfairgrounds.com

PRODUCTIONS: 

Event Name: Disney’s Beauty And The Beast
Event Date & Time: Friday, August 16 – Sunday, August 25, Various Times
Event Location: Forsyth County Arts and Learning Center, 1150 Dahlonega Highway, Cumming
Event Details: Come see a “tale as old as time” in this classic Disney production. Tickets are on sale at www.forsyth.k12.ga.us/focal. $30 for adults and $25 for students.   

Event Name: The Wizard of Oz
Event Date & Time: Friday, August 16 – Sunday, August 18, Weekends, Various Times
Event Location: Holly Theater, Dahlonega
Event Details: We’re off to see the wizard! It’s opening wicked of the Holly Theater’s adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s beloved tale. This is rated G and a production the whole family can enjoy. Get your tickets at www.hollytheater.com
