Hall Count authorities arrested a Clermont man Monday amid a child molestation investigation.
Hall County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Derreck Booth says investigators obtained arrest warrants for sexual battery and child molestation, both felonies, and arrested Michael Wayne Greene, age 36, not long after an interview at sheriff's office headquarters in Gainesville.
Booth said the investigation showed Greene committed the offenses against the female victim, who is under the age of 16, on the afternoon of July 28. Greene reportedly knew the victim prior to the crimes.
Booth said deputies took the initial report about the incident just an hour after it occurred when a family member of the victim learned it had happened.
Deputies took Greene to the Hall County Jail following his arrest. He remained there without bond as of Tuesday morning.
