Three men have been arrested in Ohio after allegedly robbing jewelry stores across the country including in Forsyth County.
The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office posted on social media Friday that they became involved in the investigation in November 2023 when they were called to Simon D. Jewelers on Peachtree Parkway near Suwanee.
"Deputies found a back door pried open and several display cases were smashed and jewelry was stolen," the post said. "The loss estimate was approximately $300,000 or more."
The suspects in the case were later identified as Higuera Reyes-Flores, Rafael Hernandez and Pedro Garcia.
"Several leads were obtained related to this burglary crew showing they had committed approximately 22 burglaries nationwide," the post said.
The sheriff's office reportedly tracked the three to Columbus, Ohio and informed law enforcement there that the trio were likely casing another store to rob. On Thursday, the three were arrested at the Ohio store.
While the three are in custody in Ohio and facing charges there, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office has also taken out warrants against them. Sheriff Ron Freeman thanked the Ohio law enforcement for helping arrest the trio.
"Yet again, felons stupidly thought Forsyth was a place to commit crimes," Freeman said. "Because of great police work by FCSO detectives, they now get to enjoy trials and jails in multiple states."
