OAKWOOD, Ga. — West Hall opened the 2024 season with a come-from-behind 7-5 win over Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy on Thursday.
The Lady Spartans (1-0) fell behind 5-1 in the fourth after BASA scored two runs each in the third and fourth. But they began their rally in the bottom of the fourth on a two-run single by Rylyn Battles.
West Hall continued the comeback with two runs in the fifth when McKenzie Hooper singled in a pair of runs to tie the game at 5 and then took the lead in the sixth when Kihanna Rich ripped a two-run double.
Rich, EC Kohler, and Hooper combined for six of the Lady Spartans 10 hits.
Kohler earned the win for West Hall, surrendering six hits and five runs, but just one earned, over seven innings, striking out three.
West Hall next will travel to East Jackson on Monday.
