Towns County family rewarded for apprehending missing jail trustee on the loose

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

Bruce Douglas Partin Jr., a trustee from the Towns County work detail is back in custody, thanks in large part to a local family.

Towns County Sheriff Ken Henderson recently honored and rewarded Steven Kirby and his family for detaining the missing suspect last Thursday, July 18 at their residence on Fodder Creek Road.

Henderson said in social media posts that Kirby spotted Partin in his orange jail uniform in his yard while he was inside his home as his Labradoodle Odie began aggressively alerting to a person outside. Mr. Kirby then retrieved his firearm weapon and went outside, where he was immediately confronted by Partin and ordered him to the ground with his weapon drawn.

Kirby’s wife Amy called 911 and sheriff’s deputies were on the scene quickly thereafter to take Partin into custody.

Because of their bravery, Sheriff Henderson's department recently presented the Kirby family with a $500 reward behind Partin's capture.
