Construction is now underway on a new facility that is set to replace an existing Northeast Georgia Physicians Group office building in Flowery Branch.
The new building is being built on a site on Phil Niekro Boulevard near the intersection of Thurmon Tanner Parkway, less than a mile's drive from the existing facility on Atlanta Highway in downtown Flowery Branch.
Northeast Georgia Health System officials had planned a groundbreaking ceremony for the new building in recent weeks, but rain canceled the event and officials now say they expect to hold a ceremony in October. In the meantime, construction has started at the site.
The new "Medical Plaza 1" will be one story and around 15,000 square feet according to NGHS officials. It is expected to be open in Summer 2025.
No information has been released on the cost of the build or what is being done with the existing office on Atlanta Highway.
