Gwinnett County to open applications for Nonprofit Capacity Building Grant

By Lawson Smith Anchor/Reporter

Gwinnett County will open the application process for its Nonprofit Capacity Building Grant on Thursday, Aug. 1.

The program provides area nonprofits that were negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic with financial assistance. The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners allocated $5 million in funding from the American Rescue Plan Act to assist eligible organizations in enhancing their productivity and impact on the community.

“I’ve witnessed firsthand the incredible impact of Gwinnett's nonprofits — they tackle critical needs and make a real difference in people's lives,” Gwinnett County Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson said. “Our nonprofit partners help the County to bridge crucial gaps and we hope this round of grant funding empowers recipients to expand their impact and fulfill their essential missions.”

The funding, in alignment with the County’s Human Services Strategic Plan, will be awarded to nonprofits that provide services in food security, housing, health and wellness, youth, literacy, and access to transportation or cultural and linguistic services.

Nonprofits can apply for assistance for capital support or operational support. Capital support focuses on projects that improve capacity by fulfilling a capital need such as equipment, software solutions and vehicles. Operational support focuses on providing technical assistance and learning modules to grow the organization’s capacity.

Applications run from Aug. 1 to 30 and can be accessed in the grant application portal. For more information on the grant, visit GwinnettCounty.com.
