Habersham County Emergency Services and the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office responded to a wreck with injuries just after 6 p.m. on Friday, July 12th.
The accident occurred on Expressway 441 / Ga. 15 at 441 Old Historic Highway just south of Tallulah Falls.
One vehicle was traveling eastbound on Old Historic Highway 441 and failed to stop at a stop sign at the road’s intersection with Ga. 15, which caused it to be in the path of a second vehicle traveling south on Ga. 15. The second vehicle struck the front of the first vehicle, which rotated counterclockwise upon impact.
The rear driver side of the first vehicle then struck the passenger side of the second vehicle. Upon the second impact, the first vehicle came to an uncontrolled rest, facing east in the right turning lane of Old Historic Highway 441. After impact, the second vehicle came to a final uncontrolled rest in the left lane on GA 15 facing south.
A preliminary investigation found the driver of the first vehicle was driving under the influence, according to a release from the Georgia State Patrol.
Three people were transported by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville for treatment.
Southbound traffic on Expressway 441 / Ga. 15 was diverted onto 441 Old Historic Highway until about 7:30 p.m.
