Lawrenceville authorities arrest road rage shooting suspect

The Lawrenceville Police Department on Friday, Jun. 28 arrested a woman following a road rage shooting incident in the city. 

Lawrenceville Police Officials said officers responded Thursday, Jun. 27 at around 7:40 p.m. to the intersection of West Pike Street and Old Norcross Road to reports of a person shot. 

Officers found a 28-year-old man sitting in his vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound to his right knee.

The victim described the alleged shooter to officers as well as the location of the shooting which was West Pike Street and Culver Street. Officers began investigating the scene and located two shell casings.

Officers identified the suspect as Yaqarah Bennett, 28 using the victim's description and specific tattoo markings.

Bennett was later located and taken for questioning.

She was then arrested and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes and cruelty to children in the 2nd degree. 

The case remains under investigation.
