Dawson County prepares its residents for July 4th holiday week fireworks operations

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter
The Independence Day celebrations are just around the corner for many in Georgia, as we enter the month of July.  Officials in Dawson County are taking the time let everyone know what can and cannot be done for holiday fireworks celebrations.

Social media posts from the Dawson County Sheriff's Office says their department wants to remind everyone that fireworks are legal to use until 11:59 PM on both July 3rd and 4th.

They are also asking residents to refrain from calling 911 or the non-emergency number to inquire about the best places to watch fireworks. Our officers, med units, and fire department are extremely busy ensuring everyone’s safety, and tying up phone lines for non-emergency questions can hinder their ability to respond to actual emergencies.

Ayone under the age of 18 is NOT allowed to legally purchase fireworks in Georgia.

Public safety officials in Dawson County say that if you need them for emergencies, you can call 911 or 706-344-3636 for non-emergencies.
