Teachers in Gwinnett County soon will be seeing a bump in their paychecks, after the school board approved a budget of nearly $3.2 billion, including raises for teachers and staff.
Each teacher will receive a $4,000 salary increase, with other employees getting a minimum a 4.25 percent cost-of-living increase and step increases based on experience.
Fox 5 Atlanta reports the raises come in addition to a $2,500 raise proposed by Governor Brian Kemp for teachers across the state.
The Gwinnett County school system budget also includes funding for various educational programs and safety initiatives.
