The Georgia Department of Driver Services recently warned residents of delays for those waiting to receive their driver’s licenses and IDs.
“Due to circumstances beyond our control, there is a possibility that customers’ permanent driver’s licenses or ID Cards may be delayed in arriving,” DDS Commissioner Spencer R. Moore said.
The delivery of permanent cards may take longer than the typical 2 to 4-week timeframe.
“Customers should be patient and continue to carry their last issued license or ID and any paper interim licenses or IDs as well as receipts with them,” DDS officials said in a release.
DDS urges customers to plan and renew their IDs before the expiration date.
A Georgia license or ID Card can be renewed up to 150 days before expiration.
