The Hall County Sheriff’s Office made 20 impaired driving arrests and stopped more than 200 drivers for excessive speeding over the Memorial Day Weekend.
In a Facebook Post, the sheriff's office said their patrol division called it one of the busiest Memorial Day weekends in recent memory.
“Every member of our H.E.A.T. Unit and our Traffic Unit worked this weekend with the goal of keeping the roadways safe and putting a stop to dangerous driving on roads in our county,” Patrol Division Sgt. Jeremy Cooksey said.
One driver was clocked going 132 mph on I-985 according to the post.
Deputies made seven reckless driving arrests and four arrests for racing.
In one racing incident, two of the offenders were clocked at 129 mph in a 70 mph zone on I-985.
In another incident, the offenders were driving 99 mph in a 45 mph zone on Atlanta Highway, according to the sheriff's office.
“We believe our enforcement efforts are instrumental in reaching our goal of Zero traffic fatalities in Hall County over the Memorial Day weekend,” Sgt.
