Less than 100 still without power in Rabun County after Memorial Day storms

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

Power crews in the North Georgia mountains are not getting much time off for the Memorial Day holiday, as they work to clear downed trees and power lines that have left hundreds still without power as of Monday afternoon in Rabun county.

The thunderstorms came through the area in the early morning hours and continued until nearly noon in some places. Outages were widespread, with thousands across Northeast Georgia having power knocked out over the course of the morning.

As of 3:00 p.m., there were  less than 100 reported outages in Rabun County. A few scattered outages are also still being reported in parts of Hall, Habersham, Gwinnett, Jackson and Stephens counties.
