The Gwinnett County Police Department is providing a way for residents to upload their private gate codes for first responders to use in the event of an emergency at a gated residence.
“When there’s an emergency, we know that every second matters,” a release from the department said. “With the growing use of privacy gates at the entrances to businesses, subdivisions, and private residences, it is imperative that first responders have a way to access gates in the event of an emergency.”
The Gwinnett County 911 center maintains a list of gate codes and other emergency contact information that can be used by the police department, fire department, and emergency medical service units as they respond to calls.
Those wishing to add their codes to the list can do so by visiting the county’s Emergency Contact Information Form. From there. Residents select the type of gate code they are adding, with the options of business, residence, storage facility, subdivision, or apartment complex.
Once the form is complete, the information will be sent directly to the E-911 Center for input into the CAD system.
