STATE CHAMPION: Bluff's Pressley captures 4A girls title; NHall girls take 2nd

LaGRANGE, Ga. — Cherokee Bluff’s Alisa Pressley pulled away in the second round to win the Class 4A girls state golf championship on Tuesday at Fields Golf Club.

The  junior took a three-shot lead over North Hall junior Lillie Mallis into Tuesday’s final round and fired a 4-over par 76 to finish with a two-day 148 total. Mallis shot a 70 on Tuesday to hold off Westminster junior Jessalyn Young for second place with a 12-over 156.. Young finished third with a 158.

North Hall senior MaKayla Jones finished seventh with a 23-over 167.

As for the team title, North Oconee overcame a three-shot deficit to Madison County after Monday’s opening round to capture the title. The Lady Titans fired a tournament-best 255 on Tuesday to finish with a 39-over 516, which was good enough to hold off second place North Hall (522).

The Lady Trojans shot a 259 on Tuesday to nip Madison County by a stroke (523).
