The Georgia Department of Transportation has awarded contracts for several road and bridge improvement projects in the Northeast Georgia region.
A release from GDOT Thursday said the projects are in Gwinnett, Forsyth, Barrow and Banks County, totaling more than $85 million.
In Gwinnett County, a contract has been approved with E.R. Snell Contractor, Inc. to widen and reconstruct more than 1.3 miles of State Route 20 from Peachtree Industrial Boulevard to State Route 13, including the construction of a bridge and approaches over the Norfolk Southern Railway and Railroad Avenue in Sugar Hill.
In Forsyth County, a $44.6 million contract has been reached with C.W. Matthews to widen three miles of State Route 9 from just north of State Route 141 to just north of State Route 20.
In Barrow County, E.R. Snell has been awarded a $1.38 million contract for the replacement of Robertson Bridge over Barber Creek.
In Banks County, more than $2.3 million is being awarded to Georgia Bridge & Concrete to replace the bridge and approaches on Wright's Mill Road (County Road 92) over the Hudson River.
No timetable was given by GDOT for when the work might begin.
