Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta ambulance breaks down on I-985

By AccessWDUN Staff

A Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta ambulance broke down Tuesday afternoon on I-985 near Mile Marker 13 while transporting a child to the hospital, leading to the shutdown of the interstate for a brief time.

The Hall County Sherriff’s Office said both sides of I-985 were shut down just before 4 p.m. while a life flight helicopter landed to transport the child to CHOA.

“A CHOA ambulance broke down as it was on the way to the hospital in Atlanta, and it was much more expedient to call for the life-flight helicopter to land rather than wait for another ambulance to arrive,” a Facebook post from the sheriff's office said.

The status of the child is not known and all lanes of the interstate are now open.
