Gwinnett County officials will present the newly expanded Ivy Creek Greenway trailhead at George Pierce Park Monday during a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The  expansion connects George Pierce Park to Westbrook Road and other trails such as Suwanee Creek Greenway.

Funded by Gwinnett’s 2017 SPLOST program, the project added a ¾-mile section of greenway featuring a 1,000-foot paved multi use trail, a 1,500-foot concrete boardwalk with overlooks through the wetlands, a pedestrian bridge spanning Suwanee Creek, and various safety and connectivity amenities.

During the event,  Department of Community Services Director Tina Fleming will serve as emcee and Gwinnett Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson will speak.

The ceremony will begin at 2:30 p.m. at George Pierce Park, 55 Buford Highway, Suwanee.

Parking will be available at the George Pierce Park playground.
