114-lot development proposed along Antioch Campground Road

The Hall County Planning Commission voted Monday in approval of a 114-lot single-family housing development along Antioch Campground Road in Northwest Hall.

The property in question sits at 3302 and 3212 Antioch Campground Road and 3446, 3450 and 3456 Looper Lake Road, according to county documents. The applicant, The Revive Land Group, LLC, went before the Commission hoping to rezone 59.31 acres of land from Agricultural Residential to Planned Residential Development.

Previously, Hall County Planning Staff recommended denial of the application, citing that "the proposed use is inconsistent with surrounding zoning districts and the Comprehensive Plan."

The Planning Commission chose to recommend the application for approval, but only after a lengthy 26-condition checklist was proffered by Commissioner Stan Hunt.

The proposed development will be limited to residents aged 55 and up, with an overall proposed density of 1.93 dwelling units per acre.

Several amenities for the neighborhood could include pickleball courts, dog parks, a fire pit, a clubhouse and nature trails.

Several nearby residents spoke out against the development at Monday night's meeting, expressing concerns for added traffic flow, density issues and lacking infrastructure. Additionally, several concerns cited that nothing similar to this exists in the area.

The Planning Commission's approval vote will now go before the Hall County Board of Commissioners for a final decision on May 8 at 6 p.m. at the Hall County Government Center.
