COAL MOUNTAIN, Ga. — North Forsyth used a four-run first inning to grab the lead and then went on to a 5-0 win over No. 7 Habersham Central on Saturday in a battle for first place in Region 8-6A.
North Forsyth (12-6, 6-1 Region 8-6A) got a two-run triple from Brady Holborook, a RBI single from Ellis Alldredge, and also scored on an error in the opening frame. That would be more than enough for Seth Dixon and a pair of relievers.
Dixon started and went five innings scattering three hits and three walks and fanned eight to get the win. Sam Moore and Gavyn Seitz each threw one inning, surrendering just one hit and striking out two.
Kade Nicholson took the loss for Habersham Central (13-3, 5-2 Region 8-6A). Nicholson lasted five innings, allowing four runs on six hits and striking out two.
Spencer Frady, Kreed Barrett, Maverick Chitwood, and Callum Spivey each had one hit for Habersham Central.
The two teams will meet again on Monday in Mt. Airy.
