Forsyth County kicks off weekend with cleaning initiative

By Christian Ashliman Anchor/Reporter

Forsyth County is ringing in the springtime vibes with an initiative dubbed "The 2024 Great FoCo Cleanup" to help remove litter throughout the county.

Keep Forsyth County Beautiful is welcoming anyone who wishes to take part in the initiative to help remove litter and debris from the community's roadways between March 23 and April 22, officials said earlier this week.

The effort is part of a greater goal put forward by Keep America Beautiful Great American Cleanup.

Those interested can join an organized team of volunteers, or operate as individuals. Volunteers can pick up supplies, along with a free KFCB 30th anniversary shirt, from the Cumming City Hall, located at 100 E. Main Street, between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Saturday.

Alternatively, volunteers can schedule a time for supplies pickup at the KFCB office, located at 426 Canton Highway, through April 16.

"We look forward to this event every year and witnessing so many participants making a positive impact on the community is a joy,” Forsyth County Manager of Environmental Programs Tammy Wright said. “We always appreciate the hard work the community puts in to help our county thrive.”

Bags of litter that have been gathered can be dropped off at any of the three Forsyth County recycling centers by April 22, according to officials.

The locations of those recycling centers can be viewed by clicking here.

Pre-registration is required to participate. Those interested can contact KFCB at [email protected] or by calling (770) 205-4573.
