Decatur man arrested on marijuana, cocaine charges in White County

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

White County authorities arrested a Decatur man early Thursday morning after reportedly finding marijuana and cocaine during a traffic stop just north of Cleveland.

A social media post by the White County Sheriff's Office Friday said deputies pulled over a silver Toyota SUV near the intersection of Hulsey Road and Helen Highway at around 4:15 a.m.

"The deputy smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle," the post said. "Upon search of the vehicle, over 5 pounds of marijuana and a small bag of cocaine were found."

The driver of that vehicle, Chennault Camron Elijah, age 26, was arrested at the scene and booked into the White County Jail on a list of drug charges. He has since been released on $9,500 bond.
