An 18-year-old Duluth teen has been arrested in a stolen vehicle and is now facing charges of kidnapping with two firearms being recovered.

Police officers with the West Precinct in Gwinnett County Friday located a stolen vehicle near Peachtree Parkway and Spalding Drive in Peachtree Corners, according to authorities. Officers reportedly attempted to stop the stolen vehicle, but the driver accelerated and began making evasive maneuvers.

Officers made use of an aviation unit to continue the pursuit of the vehicle. The vehicle was followed to the back of a nearby school, where three occupants were seen exiting the vehicle. Two passengers made their way to the front of the school and met with responding officers.

Shiheen Junnelle Russell, 18, of Duluth, was found and arrested on an adjacent street shortly after. Officers recovered two firearms, one of which was reported stolen during the time that the vehicle was initially stolen, authorities said Tuesday. All three individuals were detained and interviewed.

The two passengers of the vehicle were found to not have been involved in the incident and were subsequently released.

Russell was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail on charges of two counts of kidnapping, four counts of theft by receiving stolen property, two counts of possession of a firearm or knife during the commission or attempt of certain felonies, theft of lost or mislaid property, carrying a weapon within school safety zones, fleeing or attempting to elude police, reckless driving and multiple other traffic-related charges, according to authorities.
