Soccer: Huge region battles on tap Tuesday with several teams needing wins

By Jeff Hart Sports Reporter

The region races have begun to heat up around northeast Georgia, with probably none more exciting than the boys side of Region 8-4A.

Entering Tuesday's action, four teams are ranked in the top nine, with seven teams within 1 1/2 games of second place behind No. 1-ranked Johnson (6-1-1, 5-0 Region 8-4A). Two of those teams, fifth-ranked East Hall (7-2, 3-2 Region 8-4A) and ninth-ranked Chestatee (5-3-2, 3-3 Region 8-4A), meet in Valhalla, with the loser in serious jeopardy of missing the playoffs.

But that isn't the only crucial match on Tuesday.

In Region 8-6A, the eighth-ranked North Forsyth boys (10-0, 8-0 Region 8-6A) play host to Gainesville (3-6, 3-3 Region 8-6A). The Red Elephants desperately need a win to stay in the top four in the region standings.

On the boys' side, in Region 7-3A, West Hall (3-6, 1-0 Region 7-3A) travels to Dawson County (4-4, 2-1 Region 7-3A), with both teams looking to keep pace with No. 3 Wesleyan (6-0-2, 2-0 Region 7-3A).
